Those considering scrum master certification, often ask about how long it takes. The amount of time to become a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) includes the course time and study time. It will require a commitment, but you’ll find that earning your CSM has many advantages.
Scrum Master Certification Requirements
To become a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), you must complete a two-day course (typically 16 hours) taught by a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST) or an equivalent learning path. After completing the course, you must pass the CSM exam, which consists of 50 multiple-choice questions. The certification process can typically be completed within a week.
CSM requirements
To earn your CSM, you must attend a course taught by a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST) with the Scrum Alliance. Our CSM course is 16 hours, either live in-person over two consecutive days or live online over four days.
Upon your completion of the course, you’ll take the CSM self-assessment through the Scrum Alliance. You can take the self-assessment at your convenience from any computer with internet access. To successfully pass, you must answer 37 of the 50 multiple-choice questions correctly within the 60-minute time limit (average completion time is around 40 minutes).
